In this section please briefly tell us about your horse , age height breeding etc.. home name show name – My horse is called Sweetie (also known as Strawberry Daiquiri) is a 22yo chestnut Quarter Horse mare, who stands at 14.3hh. I also have a 5yo 14.1hh pony called Tequila (Tequila Sunrise) coming along to be my main horse when Sweetie retires.
Express a moment / memory you have had with your horse that made you feel very good / fond memories…..does not have to be related to competition: One of my most cherished memories with Sweetie was our first ever Cross Country outing, where she gave me the confidence to jump many big and scary-ish jumps that I was too scared to do on my old pony. She gives me so much confidence and always looks out for me.
Your age – Fav food’ and or what food you do not like: I just turned 16 years old and my favourite food is spinach and ricotta cannelloni! I made it from scratch one day and it was delicious! I do not like Prawns, I got food poisoning from them one Christmas and now I can’t stand to look at them.
What makes you really happy – What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not riding? When I’m not riding I love shopping for new clothes or watching Netflix.
What colour is your horse- height – age – level: Sweetie is a 14.3hh chestnut Quarter Horse, and is 22 years young. We’ve started schooling up to D grade Show Jumping at home and just do basic flatwork. Tequila is learning the very basics in dressage and jumping.
How long you have had your horse? I got Sweetie at the start of December 2016, so only for 4 months, and I got Tequila as a 2 year old back in mid 2014.
How long have you been riding? I started riding when I was 2, when I got my first pony, Missy, from Santa.
What you love most about your horse? What I love most about Sweetie is how confident she is when she is out-and-about, and how her calming nature resonates onto other horses. She always looks after me.
What do you love most about horses? I love how unique and different they are in comparison to each other. I also love how intelligent they are, and they always teach me something new.
If you had to pick just one, what is your favourite discipline? My favourite discipline is definitely Show Jumping
Do you have an idol in the Equine World? I look up to the Wilson Sisters so much. I admire their training methods, how they deal with misbehaving horses and I aspire to be like them.
Why did you enter the Barastoc Junior Squad Search? I entered the Barastoc Junior Squad Search because I’ve heard so many good things about their feed, and I know how much my horses LOVE food, and improve when they’re being fed good things.
If you could meet one famous person in the world, who would it be? I would love to meet the Wilson Sisters
Who is your biggest supporter? My biggest supporters are definitely my family. I appreciate all the time and money they have put into helping me achieve my goals and making me happy.
What do you hope to do when you grow up? When I grow up I would love to be a zookeeper or a vet – definitely something with animals!
Tell us what your goals are for the future: I would love to represent my pony club in either State Games or Show Jumping, and apply to be a trainer in the Australian Brumby Challenge in 2018.
