When it comes to feeding horses, many assume it’s straightforward: a bit of chaff, a scoop of grain, and the job’s done. But when breeding Thoroughbreds, nutrition goes far beyond the basics.
Feeding should be simple, yet targeted. For breeding mares, paying attention to the “1%” can be the difference between an ordinary outcome and producing a foal with the best chance to fulfil its genetic potential — and become a race-winning athlete. That’s where science and smart nutrition come in.
That 1% could mean stronger bone with fewer x-ray issues and less incidences of OCDs, increased fertility or optimising growth rates to set up sound, resilient athletes for the future.
