What do you love most about your horse? I love everything about Chevy, he is the first ever horse I love started from scratch. I bred him, handled him, broke him in and have done everything up to now all by myself !! He makes me very proud that's for sure, and being able to go to ABHA Finals on Chev later this year (only being 3) just shows me how amazing our future together is going to be !!!
Funny habits, how does your horse make you smile? Chev is still a Colt so is very cheeky at times, he loves rounding up the ponies in the paddock which often leads to him falling over ! I think sometimes he forgets how to use his legs at times
Horse’s Name: Keajura Quest
Height: 15.3hh
Colour: Bay
Breed: Quarter horse
Discipline: Barrel racing / roping / team penning / rodeo horse in the making !!
What do you love most about your horse? I love how smart he is, he's been out of work for a year and he is coming back into work like he knows everything which is very nice !! He's also coming very far in a quick amount of time, so I can't wait to see where the future takes us.
Funny habits, how does your horse make you smile? He is a very happy horse until I try take pictures of him, the ears go straight back And he's too quite so trying to get his attention by jumping around or shaking stuff in front of him just doesn’t work.
What do you love most about horses? I just love how they can heal you, they know when they need to cheer you up and just the feeling of being around them is second to none !! They have made me who I am today and I wouldn't change that for the world.
Do you have an idol in the Equine World? Hailey Kinsel is definitely the main person I look up to, she's a 3 time world champion barrel racer !! She rides her little pally horse Sister which reminds me so much of Chev so hopefully we can be like them one day !! I also love Fallon Taylor, she was the 2014 World Barrel Racing Champion !!
Who is your biggest supporter? Definitely my mum, if she didn't get me into horses I wouldn't ever be where I am today. She does so much for me and I'm so thankful for her and always will be. She is my #1 supporter !! Also my friends and family are also huge supporters, hearing them cheer me on from the side lines gives me the best feeling ever, it keeps me pushing forward!!
Describe your favourite horse memory? My favourite horse memory would have to be at Miller's Flatts Gymkhana where I won the under 18 Western Pole bend when I was only 13 !!! I was on my old pony ‚Foxhall Steeletto‚ aka Stella and we got a time of 21 seconds !!
What are your ambitions or dreams with your current horses? My biggest dream was to make it to ABHA National Finals in Tamworth and I never thought I'd make it, then I did !! When I go to compete there in September, I don't care if I don't place, being able to run in that arena will make all my hard work and dedication worth it !!! Next year I would love to start rodeoing again, that's where my heart is.
Where do you see yourself riding in 5 years? - I see myself with a big team of very competitive horses !! - I see my business (KC Performance Horses) growing so big, everyone will know my name - I see myself at rodeos competing in Barrels, Steer undecorating and roping !! - I see myself living my dream
Why do you want to be part of the Barastoc Junior Squad? I would love to be a part of the Barastoc Junior Squad, I love helping businesses grow, they will always help me grow too !! I would really enjoy supporting Barastoc and would love to speak to everyone about the benefits of your business and would help in any way I could !!
How do you think being a member of the Barastoc Junior Squad will help your riding? Your support would help me and my horses out so much, knowing I'm sponsored would make me feel like I have to ride harder as I'm here to show off your business. If I was chosen, it would show me that I am capable of so much more and that you believed I could.
Which Barastoc Ambassador would you most like to meet? Definitely Kurt and Erica Hanrahan, I feel like I could learn so much from them as they do the type of stuff I do. I'm getting into campdrafting soon and seeing that they are a big part of that makes me want to meet them, I would love to hear what tips n tricks / anything they could give me !!
Have you fed Barastoc to your horses in the past? If so, what products did you use? We have Chevs mum on Breed N Grow when she was in foal which really helped her during her pregnancy ! Once Chev was weaned, he needed just that extra bit of nutrients so he was fed Breed N Grow My old show pony was on Calm Performer” it helped her keep her hotness down, she was a handful and a half.
